October’s Giving Clinic Supports the Alberta Wilderness Association
Vicars School Giving Clinics are back! This month, we’ll be helping to protect Alberta’s land, water, and wildlife.
All proceeds of our student clinics on October 17 in Edmonton and Calgary will go to the Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA). Book now for Edmonton or Calgary!
The AWA is the oldest wilderness conservation group in Alberta, and one of the most effective. For nearly 60 years, they have been fighting to protect Alberta’s wild spaces and preserve our environmental heritage for future generations.
What are Vicars Giving Clinics?
Vicars Giving Clinics are an opportunity for us to support a cause or organization that matters to us and reflects our values. We hold two Giving Clinic days a month during the regular school year; one each in Edmonton and Calgary. All proceeds from our student clinics on those days go to that month’s charity partner or partners. We pick days that we predict will very busy at the clinic, to maximize the donation.
Previous Giving Clinic recipients include Edmonton’s Food Bank, the Calgary Food Bank, and women’s emergency shelters in Edmonton and Calgary.
About the Alberta Wilderness Association
The Alberta Wilderness Association is a federally registered non-profit charitable society devoted to the conservation of Alberta’s wilderness. Through a combination of government advocacy, community engagement, and education initiatives, they have helped protect some of our province’s most important and sensitive ecosystems. They’ve even gone to court on behalf of endangered species like sage-grouse and caribou.
Alberta features some of the most spectacular landscapes, wildlife, and plant habitats in the world (well, at least we think so…we may be a bit biased). From the Rockies to the Badlands, from the Boreal forest in the north to the native grasslands of the southern part of the province, Alberta’s wildernesses are iconic.
The loss of these natural habitats and the decline of the species that rely on them have far-reaching consequences, not only for the environment but also for the economy and community health.
As the AWA puts it: “What wilderness we have now is all we shall ever have.”
Join us at our Giving Clinics on October 17 to help protect it.
To make sure this fundraiser is fully booked, please think about attending the October 17 clinics.
Of course, Edmonton and Calgary student clinics are always worth supporting. You can expect a great treatment that includes an assessment, a one-hour massage, and a short home-care and remedial exercise consultation. It’s a great experience and a bargain—each session is only $40. And you will be helping our students earn the diplomas they need for a successful professional career—they are each required to complete at least 330 hours of faculty-supervised clinic experience to graduate.
Booking your next massage at our Edmonton or Calgary Student Clinic is such a good idea that most of our clients are regulars, and we hope you will be one, too.
