Your Future as a Registered Massage Therapist Starts Here

Massage therapy offers healthcare impact with entrepreneurial freedom. Vicars graduates build rewarding careers across the country—on their own terms.

Freedom, flexibility, and fulfillment

Massage therapy combines the best parts of being a client-centred caregiver with the flexibility of working for yourself. You’ll make a real difference in your clients’ lives while choosing how and where you work.

RMTs help relieve pain, aid rehabilitation, reduce stress and anxiety, support athletic performance, and improve overall wellness.

It’s deeply satisfying work with tangible rewards.

Where will your RMT career take you?

Fully qualified therapists are in demand across Canada, in cities and rural areas. Many Vicars graduates book clients weeks in advance.

  • Clinics – Join or start a practice with other therapists
  • Spas & Wellness Centres – Steady client flow with flexible scheduling
  • Sports & Rehabilitation – Work with athletes, chiropractors, and physiotherapists
  • Home-Based Practice – Complete control over your environment and hours
  • Rural Alberta – High demand, often less competition

Most Vicars graduates are entrepreneurs. Our program includes business training to help you succeed, whichever path you choose.

Your path to becoming an RMT

You can start your online courses as soon as you register—even before your first tuition payment is due. It’s optional, but it gives you a head start and lightens your workload when classes begin.

  1. Complete our accredited 2-year diploma program at our Edmonton or Calgary campus and gain 330 supervised clinic hours working with real clients in our teaching clinics
  2. Graduate ready to practice—or write registration exams if you plan to work in BC, Ontario, or other regulated provinces
  3. Launch your practice or join a clinic. Many students are recruited before graduation

CMTCA accreditation matters

Because Vicars shares accreditation with the best massage therapy programs, our graduates can apply directly to write registration exams in all regulated provinces. Your diploma opens doors beyond Alberta.

Vicars massage education fits your schedule

Vicars students do not have to relocate or uproot their families. Our blended-learning program combines weekly or monthly on-campus sessions with structured online coursework.

Frequently asked questions

How much can I earn as an RMT?

Income potential varies with experience. Fees typically range from $90 to more than $120 for a 60-minute massage. A sustainable practice involves 4-6 massages per day. Vicars graduates tend to be fully booked within their first year.

Can I work outside Alberta with a Vicars diploma?

Yes. CMTCA accreditation allows our graduates to apply directly to write the registration exams in British Columbia, Ontario, and other regulated provinces. Once registered in one province, you can practice in any of them.

Is massage therapy regulated in Alberta?

Massage therapy is not provincially regulated in Alberta, but CMTCA accreditation ensures your education meets the highest national standards. This voluntary accreditation means you're trained to the same level as therapists in regulated provinces.

What's the job outlook for RMTs?

Federal and provincial data indicate job prospects for RMTs are "good" or "very good" across Canada. There is growing public and medical interest in complementary health care, and massage therapy is valued for its physical and mental health benefits.

Do most RMTs work for themselves?

Yes, many massage therapists prefer self-employment. As many as two-thirds of Vicars graduates are entrepreneurs, working for themselves and often hiring others as their business grows. Our program includes business training to help you succeed.
