Vicars Giving Clinic Raises $4,000 for Domestic Violence Shelters in Edmonton and Calgary

Vicars students providing massages at last year's Inn from the Cold Steps to End Homelessness event.
Massages booked at Vicars Giving Clinic raised $4,000 for WIN House (Edmonton) and Fear Is Not Love (Calgary).

We’d like to give a round of applause to everyone who visited Vicars Giving Clinic events in February and March! Thanks to you, we donated over $4,000 to help victims of gender-based and family violence in Alberta. The massages you booked provided life-saving support, including counselling and emergency housing, to women and families experiencing violence.

Your impact at a glance:

  • $1,810 for WIN House (Edmonton)
  • $2,270 for Fear Is Not Love (Calgary)

WIN House runs three shelters in Edmonton for women, children, and non-binary people fleeing gender-based violence and domestic abuse. They offer a 24/7 helpline, counselling, and recovery support.

Fear Is Not Love (formerly the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter) provides emergency housing, a 24/7 helpline, counselling services, family therapy, and healthy relationship coaching.

This month, your support fights homelessness

When you book your massage at our Edmonton clinic (April 16) or our Calgary clinic (April 18), you’re supporting two other fantastic organizations in our community: Bissell Centre and Inn From The Cold.

Bissell Centre is one of Edmonton’s longest-running homelessness charities. Their programs include housing, employment, mental health and financial empowerment services, as well as eviction support programs, and housing support for adults with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

They also offer childcare, raise funds at two thrift shops, and run a range of cultural and recreational programs for the community.

Inn from the Cold is one of Calgary’s most recognized charities, supporting individuals and families facing homelessness. They’re committed to trauma-informed care and the housing-first principle, and they help hundreds of Calgarians each year. They run three main initiatives:

  • Prevention and diversion programs to keep families from falling into homelessness
  • Family shelter programs to provide emergency and transitional housing
  • Supportive housing programs to help people find and keep stable housing

Plus: Vicars’ students are providing free massages at the Steps to End Homelessness fundraiser on April 26 in Calgary, supporting Inn from the Cold in person.
