July’s Giving Clinics raised over $1,500 for Albertans with disabilities

July was a great month at our Giving Clinics in Edmonton and Calgary. Thanks to your support, we raised $1,550 for the Chrysalis Society of Alberta.

Join us for our next Giving Clinics:

  • Calgary: August 15 supporting the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary (AFCC)
  • Edmonton: August 17 supporting the Canadian Native Friendship Centre (CNFC)

Book a massage on either date, and your fee will support the important work of these two organizations.

Friendship centres create community in our cities

We’re very happy to renew our connections with the AFCC and the CNFC by making them our August charity partners. Like other members of the friendship centre movement, the AFCC and CNFC are community and service hubs for Indigenous Canadians.

Friendship centres act as “one-stop shops” for their members. In addition to offering basic services, providing material support, and helping people navigate government systems, they are places where Indigenous people connect with their communities. And friendship centres are Indigenous-run, so their staff and members understand the specific needs of their communities and design their services and programs accordingly.

We last worked with these organizations in September 2025. At that time, we had a chance to speak to Loni Pruden, the CNFC’s Community Services Manager, about what they do.

“The Canadian Native Friendship Centre is a collective, inclusive organization with the goal of reconnecting the urban Indigenous population to its ancestral roots and heritage, while sharing and educating the non-Indigenous population on Indigenous culture,” she said.

About Vicars Giving Clinics

Each month, we dedicate one student clinic day in Edmonton and Calgary to a cause that aligns with our values. On those days, 100% of student massage fees are donated. We schedule Giving Clinics on high-demand days to maximize your impact.
