blended learning for flexibility
One reason so many Albertans choose Vicars school is because our program is delivered as blended learning. At Vicars, blended learning is not an add-on or something new. Since 2001, we have been a blended-learning school. It works, and it doesn’t waste your time.
You’ll be a full-time student, but you don’t have to be on campus every day. You can continue to live and work in your own community, and travel to campus for about a week of each month. You can choose to be in a class that meets one day a week, or one that meets once a month, usually for a four-day weekend.
Like all other accredited massage therapy programs in Canada, we require students to log at least 330 hours getting real-world practice treating clinic clients. You will learn hands-on skills in the classroom four days per month, and practice them during your clinic shifts. Our on-campus public clinics are supervised by faculty and are a critical part of your path to becoming a successful and effective RMT.
For the rest of the month, you’ll work from home studying massage theory and science, completing assignments, and practicing what you’ve learned. Our innovative online learning tools mean you can stay connected with your instructors and classmates all month long.
Essential clinic time
Beginning partway through first year, you will begin to add time in supervised student clinics to your schedule. In the Vicars program, clinical experience is not just a job placement or internship. It is a fully integrated part of our curriculum! Every shift includes specific learning goals, faculty supervision, charting, and a group debriefing session.
Student funding is available
Because Vicars School is a licensed and full-time massage therapy diploma program, our Alberta students are eligible for Alberta and Canada student aid.
Government student aid comes in two forms: loans and grants. Government loans don’t have to be repaid until you’ve finished school. The government doesn’t charge interest while you’re still a student. Grants don’t have to be paid back at all.

If you live in northern Alberta, or are interested in living there after you graduate, you can apply to get most of your tuition paid for!

Not completely! Students are in class four days a month for hands-on instruction. When you’re not in class, you’ll access your schoolwork, including our core science courses, on our online platform, Moodle. As well as resource material and assignments, access to Moodle also gives you access to instructors and to your classmates when you’re not on campus.
